SCAA's archaeology programs for students are one of the earliest public archaeology programs in America. This story is told in a chapter in the national publication Past Meets Present authors, Jameson & Baugher, Springer 2007:
- We serve as an advocate for endangered archaeological sites.
- We assist the public in identifying artifacts and sites and experiencing primal technology.
- We provide accurate information to the public about our region’s archaeology, ethnohistory, and Native people through our publications and programs.
